Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all that jazz
Yes, 2008 has kicked the bucket and it’s now 2009. I guess this is the part where I give a summary of the year just gone – highs, lows, yada yada – then think of some aspirations for the year to come. Well, that aint going to happen. A lot of 2008 was crap both personal and running wise but I finished the year off on a very happy note with both of those and that’s what I’m aspiring to maintain and improve in 2009 and beyond.
Santa was exceedingly generous to me in 2008, I was the happy recipient of a Garmin 405 – yays! – and an ipod. Me being the computer tard that I am I still haven’t managed to hook Mr G up to the internet (it’s the website I swear
) but I have been using while running and it is AWESOME! I absolutely love it! Knowing how far I’ve gone and how fast I am going at any given time is hypnotic, I can’t help but keep looking at it. My first jog with Mr G turned into a tempo run as I became obsessed with keeping a 4 in front of the min/km pace. I have since managed to rein myself in, but I can see that for speed sessions it will be very handy.
Today I hitched with the trailwalker girls for the first part of my run but turned back after 8.5km to jog 17km total. Superchicks Jay, Em and Jo ran an amazing 28km. The stats from Mr G included the burning of 1088 calories, wowsers! My ipod came into its own today too, keeping me going for the last half of the run. Must stop singing out loud though… “I feel so untouched, I want you so much” from The Veronicas is probably not appropriate to sing out loud running by myself on a country trail in the middle of nowhere while passing a very strange looking guy… Not to worry, I came home unmolested.

I have Garmin envy
Eveyone is getting a 405 except me!! I suppose I could always ask Nick to buy one for my birthday
It was lovely to run with you today, especially as I could point out all the bits that hurt so you can fix them for me
